Friday, July 2nd- We were able to sleep in on Friday and then made our way to Hollis’ mom’s cousin’s (if that’s not confusing! ) lake house on Lake Pewaukee.  We spent the day exploring the lake and relaxing with the family.

Saturday, July 3rd-  On Saturday we spent the day exploring Milwaukee.  We drove downtown and ate at one of the local brewery restaurants.  Hollis ordered a sample of beers which included 8 different types of beer.  We all enjoyed trying the different types and picking our favorite!  We then continued to walk down the streets of Milwaukee and enjoyed the view of the river walk and Lake Michigan.  We stopped in a local cheese bar and picked up some cheese to take home.  Hollis, his cousin Monica, and I also got to experience a little bit of Summerfest, a local music festival held annually for two weeks.  We rode the sky glider to see all that Summerfest had to offer and visited different stages to hear different bands.  After a couple of hours at Summerfest we made our way back to the lake house to watch the UFC fight.

Sunday, July 4th- We woke up early and joined Hollis’ family at the lake house to celebrate the 4th.  They had jet skis and beautiful weather there for us to enjoy.  We were able to ride the jet skis all day and eat some wonderful food! We ended the night watching fireworks from the boat!

Monday, July 5th- We were flying out of Chicago on this day, so we decided to drive down early and explore the city.  We drove to Wrigley field and were able to walk around the field and get the feel of the baseball atmosphere.  We then made our way downtown to the Sears Tower (now known as Willis Tower).  We took the tour of the tower and were able to stand on the new glass observation decks.  After the tour of Sears Tower we enjoyed some Chicago pizza and made our way back to the airport.

We had a great time getting to visit with family that we hadn’t seen since our wedding two years ago!

Friday night I cooked Hollis his favorite dinner that his mom always made for him, chicken in crescent rolls topped in cream of chicken soup. We also had tons of desert with banana pudding and oatmeal raisin cookies! After a delicious dinner we enjoyed the rest of the night relaxing and watching our favorite comedians!

Saturday we spent the morning shopping and then were joined with great company, Jenn and Ben. We had a great time hanging out with them and going to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants Gringos. We are so glad that they live close by.

I can’t believe how fast time is going by! We have a lot to be thankful for and have been very blessed lately to be able to spend a lot of time together. I look forward to another wonderful year!

The Woodlands

On Saturday, Julie and Mallory joined the group.  We spent the afternoon laying by the pool and relaxing at our home in Houston.  After a nice home cooked dinner we made our way to Washington Avenue where we enjoyed a few drinks and great atmosphere.

I am so blessed to have many wonderful girl friends to surround myself with.  We always have a great time reliving college memories and looking forward to the future.  I can’t wait for our next girls weekend.

In the past two years we have had so many fun exciting times.  I am blessed with a husband who enjoys traveling and wants to explore life together.   I can’t wait to spend a hundred more years together!  Thank you Hollis for your love, support, and genorisity throughout the years.    I love you more and more each day!

I spent the rest of the weekend in Portland with my family. I was able to see my brother play in the Carroll Alumni Football game and I was able to hold my sweet nieces and nephews. It was great to see the family and be able to hang out with them for a little while!

We spent Saturday night grilling out at the Abshires to celebrate Justin’s 25th Birthday.  When we woke up on Sunday we decided to try out the Crawfish Festival in Old Town Spring.  We enjoyed some good crawfish, ice cold beer, and BEAUTIFUL weather!

Last weekened we made our way to Denton, TX to visit Julie and Jeff and their new home.  We had a great time hanging out with them Friday night.  We woke up on Saturday and I made my way to a bridal shower for my dear friend Mallory Chain.  She is getting married on June 27th and I am honored to be a bridesmaid in her wedding.  She had a “floppy hat” , kitchen shower.  We had so much fun dressing in our floppy hats and watching her open up gifts!

While I was at the bridal shower, Hollis and the boys made their way to Forney, TX to take part in the Warrior Dash.  Hollis was nervous about running the 5K and going through the obstacles since he has been so busy working, but he made it through the race in great time.

We have been very busy lately, our weekends for the summer are almost completely booked with fun events and Hollis is working enough hours for the both of us!  We are truly enjoying life right now and could not be happier with everything God has blessed us with.
